Bark!
The texture of tree bark can be a great source for close-up material, especially if the bark is covered in lichen. This photo shows the bark of a rown tree with its own residents. The photo was taken with my Konica Minolta Dimage A2. The company has stopped manufacturing cameras and it is unlikely that a true successor to the A2 will be produced by any manufacturer. It has an excellent 28-200mm lens (35mm eqv) with a useable macro facility. In good light the image quality from it is very good - certainly good enough for the Alamy agency that I contribute to.
